Mission:

The department of English has been functioning since the inception of the college in 1991. At the present global situation, English has become the language of education, technology, trade and cross-cutural relations. Its basic function is to broaden the learners’ perspective by introducing them to various cultural educations across the globe. English literature as a discipline caters to the inculcative values and qualities of higher education even as it enriches communicative skills and thereby grooms the holistic development of the youths. Learning of English literature thus contributes richly to community living and out- standing performance in the field of learning.

The department of English is mainly interested in providing quality education for personality development and command of language skills along with the acquisition of knowledge of the subject of English literature. It offers need-based programmes providing in an academic environment of quality higher education and imbibes essential and universal values implicit in literature and life. The students from rural areas are trained to acquire English communicative skills along with the knowledge of varied social and national values obtained from the study of literatures written in English around the world.
